Portland is Exceptional...

Portland is a major city on the West Coast of the United States, far from the troubles of New York City.

Portland has some of the most vibrant, downtown life, and is less than three miles from the largest wilderness park inside any city in America.

Portland is a comfortable, welcoming metropolis of one-and-one-half million people, a place where police ride bikes and where you can almost find a coffee house or a great ethnic restaurant on any corner. Home to Nike, Intel, high-tech industries, low crime rates, tranquil Japanese and Chinese gardens, the city is crisscrossed by bike paths and excellent public transportation.

Transportation....

Portland offers one of the best public transportation systems in the United States. Tri-Met’s bus service stops right in front of WPC and can take you anywhere in the Metropolitan area. Our transportation system has added 35 miles of "MAX" light rail which can take you from the suburbs to the core of downtown. The Portland International Airport is only 15 minutes from WPC.

Quality....

When Portland was named as "the best place to live in America," people around here were walking a bit taller and who are we to argue with a nationally known publication? Oregon is quite a state, in fact, we may be one of the most diverse states in the nation. If you travel west, you pass through the rolling hills of Oregon’s famous wine country, as well as our deep green forest and the cold, clear streams of the Coast Range. When you approach the Pacific Ocean, you will come upon clean, uncrowned beaches that stretch for miles. Or you could turn southeast out of the city, and drive through rising hills climbing into the Cascade Mountains. Mt. Hood and its national forest are prime ski and snow-board country. In the summer, the mountains offer opportunities for hiking, white water kayaking and mountain biking.

Weather...

You may have heard that it rains every day in Portland. Here’s how it really is: Portland certainly does get rain, but this is why our state is so green in color. The autumn and spring will often be beautiful and comfortably warm. Winters will most often be fine, not too cold - it only snows a little, maybe two days a year. Several winter days will be clear and brilliant, with a sky that is so blue. November through March, you will need an umbrella. Never fear - you will also get to wear shorts and T-shirts during the summer months.
